My Flakie Collection Swatched, Golden Rose Scale Effects & Nubar 2010

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a good Thursday!

Today we have some swatches of my flakie collection, just because I love flakies and I want to share pretty pictures! Four of these came to me via Ingie over at fyeahilovenails when I won her giveaway, even though there was only one flakie up for grabs; she sent me four cause she's a sweetheart like that!

These are all just one coat over black and white.
1) Golden Rose Scale Effects - 13
2) Golden Rose Scale Effects - 04
3) Golden Rose Scale Effects - 03
4) Golden Rose Scale Effects - 02
5) Nubar - 2010 - G188

Firstly, just one coat of flakie magic, no top coat
This is the flakie polish I chose to receive from Ingie as I've always wanted a blue/green flakie. Such a beauty!

Next up with top coat. I think it was a W7 top coat but I can't remember.
It's much harder to see the flakies over white in general, but is easier to see in the shade.

And last but not least the Matte versions, using Rimmel - Matte Finish
You can see here that number 3 has gives a slight orange tint to the white base.

So which is your favourite out of the bunch? Mine is still number 2 (Golden Rose Scale Effects - 04).

Spring Challenge - Day 11 - Sky

So I was gonna do a night time sky gradient, but it went horrifically wrong, so I opted for sponging some "clouds" and dotting some "stars" It worked out better in my head :P

Don't forget to check out Esme's post for today to see what she came up with :]

Base Coat: Nail RX - Stuck On You
Base Colour: Miss Sporty - Pop Fiction
Sponged With: Rimmel - Black Satin, Barry M - Grey, Beauty UK - Soft Grey
Dotted With: Nubar - G188 2010, Rimmel - Disco Ball
Top Coat: Models Own - 3 In 1
The dots of glitter/flecks flattened out for this photo, which looks so much better.
I actually didn't mind these so much in person. But the photos just feel like a bit fat let down :/

Here's some swatches of Miss Sporty - Pop fiction, which is amazing. I found out about this colour via Nail stories here, and it looked so incredible. So I lusted after it for a while, and then recently bought it. It was so worth the wait, and the tiny price of £1.99. The formula on this bad boy is incredible. It has already graced my fingertips more than once in the two weeks I've had it.

So this is the second last challenge of the Spring Challenge - I can't believe it's almost over!

Next up, and the final challenge is Earth Day Nails! :]

Rimmel Hard Edged - Flakies & Stamping

So today we have a polish that's very gorgeous. This is actually one of the colours in my giveaway too.

This polish is so gorgeous, It's a dark brown with highly visible purple shimmer, that shifts to gold shimmer in certain lights, there's also some green shimmer lurking about but it's hard to photograph.

Such a gorgeous colour! & two amazingly perfect coats. The formula on this was so so nice to work with.

The next day though I couldn't help but put some flakies on and I felt like stamping too ^_^

Base Coat: Nail RX - Stuck On You
Base Colour: Rimmel - Hard Edged
Flakies: Nubar -2010 G188
Stamping Colour: W7 - Gold Mirror
Image Plate: Konad M63
Top Coat: Models Own - 3 In 1

The stamping did look a lot more gold in real life. I'm loving the layering combo on this one, Hard Edged does something special for Nubar flakies. Nomnom!

Blue Gradient, Stars & Snowflakes

I said the other day in this post that I was going to use snowflake nail stickers, but couldn't find them, but then I did find them :P today is a post using those decals. Thinking about it, these decals were bought as part of a Christmas present from my mother, 4 years ago, with my first ever roll of striping tape! I got a lot of nail stickers that time, and got my gingerbread men and candy canes too, best stickers ever!! Recently that striping tape when missing, after it came off the plastic middle it was attached to.. maybe I'll find it next week hehe.

On to the nails :]

Bad photo but I felt like a bottle shot :] L-R: Nubar - 2010 G188, Mac Glitter In White (I Think), Rimmel - Disco Ball, Essence - Speed Of Light Blue
It still makes me LOL every time I read "Just stick on your nail and you will be attractive"
I started with two coats of Rimmel - French Rose, and then sponged on Essence - Speed Of Light Blue, I then added one coat of Rimmel - Disco Ball to the full nail, Nubar - 2010 to half the nail, and pressed in a little loose glitter when it was slightly tacky. When that was dry I used the 5 point single stars, and snowflakes from the pack of Tina stickers. The different types of glitter, and flakes are more noticeable in real life, the flakies give it a nice glow in certain lights ^_^ I think this is my best gradient to date :]

Almost Christmas!!! :D

W7 Blue Lagoon & Flakie Magic

This polish is an oldie for me, it's about 3 years old, if not a little more. I didn't need to thin this polish at all. And there was no clean up required. NONE! It was seriously the perfect consistency. Sadly most of the pretty purple shimmer and the micro glitter hide in the bottle, but from what I remember when I got this the glitter was always really sparse and random, which I love quite a bit. The colour is very vivid, and I thought it would be a perfect blue for some flakies as I never got around to showing George Boom with Nubar.

Two coats of W7 - Blue Lagoon

Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: W7 - Blue Lagoon
Flakie: Nubar - 2010 G188
Top Coat: China Glaze - No Chip Top Coat

Mmm Matte. One coat of Rimmel matte top coat.

Just to show the pretty glow :]

Manhattan Green Piece, Tape Mani, Matte, & Flakieess!!!

I was taking photos of a swatch of Green Piece when I made plans for the next day, so this mani was just a super quick idea so I didn't have plain boring nails xD I Did two coats of Nubar over the green, and then taped off the area to paint black. BYS - Black Satin is the only black I use for Konad/Bundle Monster, and the only black I use for 1 coat opacity. Love iiit.

Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: Manhattan - Green Piece
Flakies: Nubar - 2010 - G188
Black: BYS Black Satin
Matte: Rimmel Pro - Matte Finish
I do wish i'd done the black a little skinnier, so they were more like snake eyes, but I like the look in the end.
Two Coats Manhattan - Green Piece
And here's the look In gloss.

Galaxy/Nebula Nails

I've been wanting to do these for some time now but I never got around to it, but with the 31 day challenge there's been a lot more Galaxy nails recently and I fell in love with the look all over again.

I love the way these turned out (although I do wish I'd left a bit more black visible, and chilled out with the dots a bit xD) But for my first try they're not half bad, and so sparkly ^_^

Here's What I Used (L-R)
Nail Rx - Stuck On You Base Coat, Essence - Grand Plié In Black, Nubar - 2010, China Glaze - Millennium, Sally Hansen - White On, Matalan G - Sangria, Manhattan - Lemonade, Deborah - Turquoise Fever,
Rimmel - Disco Ball, Maybelline Colorama - Ice Princess, China Glaze - No Chip Top Coat
.
And Ice princess being stunning :]

Autumnal Flakies

China Glaze - Evening Seduction is what I use instead of black for plain nails. It's so dark, yet you can still see the warmth from the plum colour that suits my skin tone better than ordinary black.

And I think it's the warm, dark purple that makes the Nubar flakes appear more warm that usual.

Two coats, no top coat.
