Born Pretty Foil Review

Hi all.

Hope you've all had a good weekend, I've had a pretty decent one so far, and I'm planning on doing a massive spring clean of my clothes and shoes this evening so I'm sure I'll be feeling marvelous when there's less clutter.

Today I have my first ever experience with nail foils. I was contacted recently by the Born Pretty Store and I decided It was time to finally try nail foils. I was sent numbers 76, and 1, and these can be found here, there's so many designs to choose from though, so good luck trying to pick!

Now, I'm not saying I'll never try foils again, but I had such a hard time with the timing of waiting for the polish to be tacky, but not too wet.  Trying to get the holographic part of the foils to show through was also quite a tough task, and although the nails below were my second attempt at using foils (the first attempt at these was so bad I didn't even take pictures), you can still only see the holo part on the ring finger.
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: Barry M - Blackberry
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails

So although I struggled with these, and really struggled with the other colour I tried I love the effect nail foils can give.

If you're interested in any of these foils, or any other products the Born Pretty Store offer use coupon code DS5X31 for 10% off.

Born Pretty Store Review - Holo Shade 12 & White Stamping Polish

Hi all. Hope you've all had a good weekend like I have so far :]

I've been putting off doing this review for weeks now as I've not managed to see a single scrap of sun on my days off when I've had a chance to swatch this polish. And as you all know, holographic polishes must have sunlight photos, or else they don't make me fall in love or make my face look like this: *.*

The Born Pretty Store were kind enough to send me this lovely holographic polish in shade 12 which is a gorgeous greeny-teal. They also sent me some stamping polishes to try, and for the testing of these below I used the double ended stamper they sent me the last time.
Born Pretty Store Holo Polish in Shade 12

Just so pretty! The formula on this is really great, and I'm really impressed with the drying time. I feel with Holos they're either super speedy, or deceptively slow at drying, but this was quick drying, but not so quick that you wouldn't be able to stamp using it (I have major difficulty trying to stamp with Gosh - Holographic Hero).

When trying the white stamping polish they sent me I noticed a few things; the formula is very good, stickier than most stamping polishes I've tried so it really gets to the edges. The downside of this polish that it's just not as white as Konad White (ring finger) but it's a really good polish if you're looking for a manicure that's not as harsh. I'm yet to try the black, but I will be testing that out soon.
Base Colour: Born Pretty Store - Holo Shade 12
Stamping: Born Pretty - White Stamping Polish, Ring finger - Konad White
Image Plate: Bundle Monster - BM406
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails
As you can see it really can't compete with Konad White, but it does give a very different look, so I will definitely be using for future manicures. Using the double ended stamper was an experience.  I have no idea now how I managed to live so long using the small Konad stamper. The double ended stamper is just much more comfortable to handle, and it definitely gives a lot more control when rolling across the nail, almost because it's longer you have to use less pressure because of the leverage.  I haven't compared it to my Konad stamper, but I feel no need as it stamps perfectly.

And for good measure heres' a shot of the very pretty shade 12 with a flash.  This is from a few weeks ago when I was hovering by the window most of the day trying to catch the sun!

Jade Holographic - Energy & Haul Gifts from Susana

Hi all.

Shorty short post today as it's my birthday and I have a lot to sort out, and dinner to get ready for. Hopefully after this busy three day week at work I'll be back to posting at least once a week.

I have a lot a lot of products to review that I haven't even gotten around to using yet, so hopefully I'll find some time this week to try a few of them out. Why does time just slip away :(?

Anyways - little rant over, I have Jade Holographic - Energy swatches for you today, and a pic of the polishes Susana most recently sent me. What a sweetheart!
Above is with a flash, and below is taken in overcast light. Sadly the sun wasn't playing out when it was time to take pictures. This is three really thin coats over a base coat of CND - Stickey.

And here are the polishes Susana sent me, so excited to try the gold holographic polish!

That's all for now, I'll be back in a couple of days :]

Orange to Green Gradient & The Polish Bar Satellite Glitter

Happy Saturday!

This is a scheduled post as I'll be chilling with my family for the next week and a bit.

Another odd combination today, but I got it in my head that an orange to green gradient would look awesome. It didn't, it looked like I had carrot fingers, the only saving grace was the glitter. I think the Polish Bar - Satellite is literally so amazing it could even save carrot fingers!
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colours: Kiko - Melon - 356, Cutex - Sweet Pea
Glitter: The Polish Bar - Satellite
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails

I was wanting to stamp over this combination but I'd had a busy week at work and didn't get the chance to until they had already chipped.

Fake Tattoos Nail Tattoo Review

Happy Wednesday guys :]

Today I have a post reviewing some nail tattoos that I was kindly sent to try out a while back now. I've yet to do more than this one mani with them, but I will definitely be trying out the others from the packet when I get a chance.

These nail tattoos are from a company called Fake Tattoos and like the large selection of tattoos they offer on their site, these can be used on the body too.

On to the mani I created with some of these fake tattoos, and I will show you what else they sent, and wht you can expect to see in the future.

Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: Barry M - Lychee
Two Coats Of: Sally Hansen - Pink Rose Diamond
Polka Dots: Kiko - Jewel Pink
Tattoos: Fake Tattoos
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails
With Flash
As you can see the holographic sparkle shines through the bow a little which I really like.

Here's what they sent me:
I think next I'll try the moustaches, or the owls! There's so much detail in those owls!
And here's the nude holographic base I created using Barry M - Lychee & and two coats of Sally Hansen - Pink Rose Diamond. I've always wanted a holographic nude so I'm quite happy with this!

The tattoos were really easy to use. I messed up the first one on a thumb by soaking the paper before it was on the nail (don't ask me why I decided to go about things backwards!) but after trimming the paper around the image pressing it to the nail (the tattoos like all other temporary tattoos are a little tacky) then soaking the paper these work an absolute dream! So easy to use, and like water decals and stickers pretty much dry instantaneously.

Have you ever tried using these kind of nail tattoos?

**These were sent to me for consideration of reivew**

Over A Lilac Base - We Stamp On Sundays

Hi all, happy Sunday! Happy bank holiday weekend to my UK peeps. It doesn't make much of a difference to me as I've not been working Mondays for the last month. Still the weather is pretty nice out, so I'm going to grab an hour lazing in the sun reading :D

This week I've actually made time for the challenge over at Adventures In Stamping and I'm hoping to keep this up as I've missed doing these weekly challenges.
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colours: Models Own - Utopia & Lilac Dream, Catrice - Dirty Berry
Stamping Colour: Miss Sporty - Raindrop
Image Plate: Bundle Monster BM313
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails
Here's the base before stamping:

I started with two coats of Utopia and then dabbed all the colours randomly onto a piece of sponge to create the subtle mix. I had hoped Raindrop would've stamped a little more opaque, but I like the colour combo anyways.

And here's what I used:
L-R, Models Own - Utopia, Lilac Dream (in China Glaze bottle), Catrice - Dirty Berry, Miss Sporty - Raindrop

Hope you've all had a good weekend so far :]

Barry M - Black Multi Glitter & Gosh - Holographic Hero Plastic Wrap Nails

Hi all, Tuesday yay!

Some simple nails for you lot today. I feel like I've not really been doing much stamping recently, and I've not had time for the Sunday challenges over at Adventures In Stamping so I've been loving easy to-do bases, with the hopes I get to stamp over before I get any tip wear. Usually I just end up wearing these plain-ish nails for most of the week.

I started with two coats of Barry M - Black Multi Glitter, which is still a favourite of mine, and then painted on Gosh - Holographic Hero to a scrunched up ball of clingfilm/saran wrap, and dabbed the nails. I love how it gives a foil effect.

The glitter in Black Multi Glitter would have shown it's face more If I'd added a top coat.

Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: Barry M - Black Multi Glitter
Other Colour: Gosh - Holographic Hero

I think the contrast of the black with the holo made it seem brighter. I may try this again with various holographic colours over a dark base.

Hope you've all had a good day so far. I'm just tucking into some noodles on my lunch break. Nom!

Space Invaders Cheeky Stamping

Hi all, happy Saturday, quick post today =]

A couple of weeks back I was stuck for what to do on my nails, and after a few suggestions I settled on doing Space Invader nails, as I'd been meaning to since I received my Cheeky Plates.

This was one of the main reasons I'd bought Pop Green Special Polish, but after trying it out on my thumb I realised It wasn't as bold as I wanted it to be. So to try and get the brightness I used Pastel Green, and without picking the image up from the plate I used Pop Green and scraped again. I'm not sure what this kind of method is called, or where I read about it, but it did work to make the green stand out more, although I would have much preferred a solid colour I quite like how these turned out.
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colours - W7 Night Suede Rough Sponged with W7 - Black
Stamping colours: Konad Special - Pop Green & Pastel Green
Image Plate: Cheeky CH45
Top Coat: Advanced Hard As Nails

Without flash, in daylight you can see the flecks that Night Suede has. These look a bit busy, but I still like them.

Hope you're all having a good weekend so far :]

Lovely Plugly Custom Plugs Take Two

Hi all!

No nails today, as I don't have any photos ready, but I do however have some pretty pretty plugs for you to gaze upon.

Some of you may remember a review I did for a company called Lovely Plugly, for those of you who don't remember this is the post I'm talking about.

So after wearing these plugs solid for a couple of months payday came around and I really had the urge to buy some more plugs. I decided to buy Alien Skin Small Furry Creatures, which are similar to my first pair of plugs from Lovely Plugly in the way they're made and also some Custom Glitter Plugs with Black Holographic Glitter and Deep Green Iridescent glitter combo.

First up to show are Small Furry Creatures Plugs

How beautiful! I love how I've wore them for a couple of weeks straight when I first got them, and I still look at the pictures in awe.

Next are the Custom Glitter Plugs:

Such pretty depth!
And as a cheeky little bonus the back of these are even sparkly and pretty!

I'll be back Friday with some Pimp'n nails I promise, but for now I hope you enjoyed checking out my latest pretties.

Holographic Dollars

Hi all.

Today I have some nails for you that I was very excited to do, and I loved wearing these. These are a base of Gosh - Holographic Hero stamped with Konad - Pop Green using Cheeky CH55. So simple, but they were nice and bold. I felt so gangster with these.
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: Gosh - Holographic Hero
Stamping Colour: Konad Special Polish - Pop Green
Image plate: Cheeky CH55
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails
And a blurry shot for good the strange reflective look.

I wore these before It started getting light enough in the mornings for me to take photos. As much as I don't like the heat, I'm beyond looking forward to real daylight for photo taking!

Hope you're all having a good Tuesday so far. I'll be tucking into some lunch right about when this posts :]

Barry M Glitter Swatches

Hi all, hope you've all had a good week!

I can't believe it's the start of February already! Time seriously flies when you work full time. I still haven't settled fully into a decent routine, which is why my posting is still a bit sporadic, so more apologies from me!

Today I have swatches for you lovelies of all the Barry M glitter polishes I bought in December.
Base Coat: CND - Stickey
Base Colour: W7- Black
Glitter: Barry M - Special Edition Glitter (2 coats I Think)
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails

Here's some swatches over black and white polish. These are all one coat, some thicker than others.
Barry M - Special Edition Glitter - SLE 2012 (1)
Barry M - Pink Sapphire Glitter (2)
Barry M - Yellow Topaz Glitter (3)
Barry M - Rose Quartz Glitter (4)

I love the little micro holo glitter that exists in Rose Quartz Glitter (4) & Yellow Topaz Glitter (3). These two are basically the same glitter, medium coloured glitter, holo micro glitter, but Yellow Topaz Glitter has medium holographic glitter too.

The Special Editon Glitter (1) has no holographic glitter at all but the mix of colours is really nice, however, looking at these photos it seems like the green glitter in it looks like it's started to curl.. Pink Sapphire Glitter (3) has pink holographic medium glitter, and holographic bar glitter with some fuchsia micro glitter.

Do you have a favourite from the bunch? Expect to see a lot more of these, I'm really loving glitter at the moment!
