Ever since I seen the whole feather idea over at Chloe's Nails last year I'd been wanting to try it myself. However I never got round to buying feathers or anything like that, but when I was clearing away some of my old art stuff last month I found some feathers, not the best size but I figured they'd do.
I didn't have any glue to hand.. So I decided to just use top coat, all was going well-ish until I lost some bit's of feathers, and I don't think I waited long enough between coats though as I have quite a lot of ugly bubbling going on ;(
From arms length they didn't look too bad.... But up close = blergh! Also; I didn't use this China Glaze top coat, If I had I probably would have something less, plastic looking, but I used Models Own - 3 In 1, which is just really thin, really good for top coating stamps, and what have you, but does not give a glassy look. Not that you can really tell from this photo.
I love the effect still though, and perfect choice of colours :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI actually really like the way they turned out! The feather effect is still there and very visible :)
ReplyDeleteI think this looks great!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look bad at all! I'd love to try it, need to go pigeon hunting lol

Haha! Thanks :]
DeleteLooks good to me!!
ReplyDeleteI still really like this effect! Great job and kudos for attempting to do this type of mani~I'm terrified I'll make a mega mess of it all. I think it's very pretty. =)
ReplyDeleteI did make quite a mess, but it was sort of worth it :] Thank you.
DeleteI think that they look good!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI did a feather mani like this for Thanksgiving and let me tell you they are hard as heck to do! Next time I do one I'm going to use nail adhesive to keep the feather down! You should try it too and see if it helps lay the feathers better and help with the bubbling. I don't think this is a fail! I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI think i will if I ever try it again! Thanks :]
DeleteI think it looks really nice in the photo! I'm not sure if I'd ever feel ok with feathers stuck to my fingers, I'd just be walking around thinking "Bird bits bird bits bird bits" all day... but, I'm a weirdo. (Clearly.)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, you have no idea how much I chuckled at "bird bits bird bits bird bits" and I think that if I ever try a feather mani again that's all I'm gonna be thinking of now :P
DeleteThanks :]
fail?? pfft that's pretty remarkable!
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Deletewoow! its awesome!!
ReplyDeleteSo freaking cool! I've never seen a feather mani before. I'm going to have to try this!
ReplyDeletethose dont look bad. the first time i did that it was a total fail too. second time, i used a white/really really really light pink base. 1 coat on each nail. then i did one nail at a time with the second coat and placed a feather and A LOT of seche vite. then i repeated the process one nail at a time with another coat of seche, another feather layer, and a lot more seche. they lasted about 3 days before they started coming off.
